Discussing Family Politics in Dongara
What is the Liberal Party planning in their policy development for families, women and better education for small children? Country families from Dongara had the chance to find first hand, when five politicians took of to Dongara for a free familiy forum.
All participating politicians have a strong country background, knowing that regional and remote families must be able to access the same Government programs for parents and children as their city cousins.

Among the politicians were Barbara Scott MLC (left), Environment Minister Donna Faragher MLC (3rd from left), Parliamentary Secretary for Mental Health Helen Morton MLC (right), Gary Snook, former Liberal Member for Moore (front, left) and Judith.

Barbara Scott MLC, who was responsible for initiating state-wide kindergarten and pre-primary programs for all West Australia children, spoke about the importance of the early years in developing competencies for life.

Helen Morton MLC, discussed the pros and cons of a parental leave scheme – and the positive effects it have on early childhood education. However, concerns of small businesses had to be heard before taking a decision, Morton insisted.

After the forum, former Liberal Member for Moore and Judith took the opportunity to meet with Janine Calver, Principal of the Dongara District High School.

Dongara District High School boasts a school population of more than 460 students and was built in 1972. Since then, no major works were undertaken. The new Liberal State Government gave their word to build a new school building prior to the election.
